Chicago White Sox leadoff hitter and center fielder Alejandro De Aza was scratched from tonight's lineup against the Kansas City Royals with stiffness in his back, and he might not return to the lineup until Monday's game against the New York Yankees. Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune talked to De Aza and manager Robin Ventura:
"I really don't know," De Aza said when asked when he might return. "Once I bounced there (on a slide), I felt something, similar to pinching that’s bothering me, so I really don’t know. I’m taking this day-by-day to see."
Manager Robin Ventura doesn't expect De Aza to return to the Sox's lineup until Monday night against the New York Yankees.
DeWayne Wise will continue to start in center field until De Aza is ready to return. De Aza is batting .281 with six home runs, 44 RBIs and 21 stolen bases this season.
