The Chicago White Sox announced Tuesday that LHP John Danks has been shut down for the rest of 2012 and will undergo surgery on his pitching shoulder on Monday, Aug. 6. Danks, who signed an extension with the White Sox during the offseason, hasn't pitched for the team since May 19.

Danks' 2012 ends with the lefty having made just nine starts. He posted a 3-4 record with a 5.70 ERA in 53-2/3 innings of work.
