White Sox Roster: Chicago Options LHP Hector Santiago To Triple-A Charlotte

In the wake of the trade for SP Francisco Liriano, the Chicago White Sox have optioned lefty RP Hector Santiago to Triple-A Charlotte, according to CBS Chicago. The Sox still have two left-handed relievers on their roster, RP Leyson Septimo and RP Matt Thornton, and may choose to work Liriano -- also a lefty -- out of the bullpen with the rest of the starting rotation is healthy.

Santiago, 24, had a strong 3.66 ERA but a subpar 5.25 FIP through 39 and 1/3 innings. In the 2011 Triple-A season, he pitched only in a starting capacity and managed a 3.56 ERA and 3.60 FIP.

Liriano, 28, appeared in 22 games for the Twins in 2012 and currently has a 5.31 ERA and 4.22 FIP.
