White Sox Roster 2012: Chicago Demotes Dylan Axelrod To Triple-A

The Chicago White Sox have optioned pitcher Dylan Axelrod to Triple-A after acquiring Brett Myers from the Houston Astros on Saturday, as ESPN Chicago reports. The 26-year-old has appeared in ten games with the White Sox this year, including six starts.

Over 38 innings with Chicago in 2012, Axelrod has posted a 5.63 ERA with 31 strikeouts and 12 walks. Home runs have proved to be a major issue for Axelrod, though, as he allowed seven bombs during his stint with the team.

With the addition of Myers to the bullpen and the improving health of Gavin Floyd, Axelrod can return to the minors to tinker with his approach.

Axelrod has fared much better in the minors this year, posting a 3.18 ERA with 66 strikeouts and 18 walks over 68 innings as a starter in Triple-A Charlotte's rotation.
