White Sox Vs. Tigers Preview: Chris Sale Starts On Saturday Afternoon

The Chicago White Sox suffered a disappointing loss in the opener of their weekend series against the Detroit Tigers on Friday night, but their best starting pitcher takes the mound on Saturday as they try to hold on to first-place in the AL Central. The Tigers have climbed to within 0.5 games of the division lead, so the Sox need a win to stay on top of the race. It's merely a symbolic milestone at this point in the season, but Chicago is certainly glad the task goes to Chris Sale, the most successful pitcher on the staff in 2012.

Sale has posted an impressive 11-2 record and a sterling 2.11 ERA so far in 2012, but he did struggle in his only appearance against the Tigers earlier this year (he allowed three runs and five hits over five innings). The Tigers will counter with sinker ball pitcher Rick Porcello (6-5, 4.66 ERA).
