White Sox Vs. Red Sox Final Score: Chicago Loses 3-1 On Walk-Off Homer

Despite another superb start from rookie Jose Quintana, the Chicago White Sox lost 3-1 to the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night. The White Sox had the lead entering the ninth inning of the pitcher's duel, but Boston's Cody Ross hit a walk-off homer to send the Fenway Park faithful into a fury of joy.

Quintana was dominant once again for Chicago, dealing eight shutout innings while allowing just five hits and zero walks. It's the fourth time in his past six starts that the rookie has pitched eight innings while allowing no more than one run, allowing him to maintain a 2.30 season ERA.

Chicago's bullpen couldn't hold onto the lead that it was handed, though, despite the team using its two best relief pitchers. Matt Thornton allowed a pair of singles before being replaced by Addison Reed, who didn't record a single out before giving up the three-run shot to Ross.

The lone run scored by the White Sox came on a sacrifice fly by Alex Rios in the fourth inning. Boston's Clay Buchholz was exceptional, striking out six over his eight innings of one-run ball.
