Pedro Hernandez's first career start did not go so well. The White Sox's 23-year old lefty surrendered 12 hits and eight earned runs over four innings as the Boston Red Sox defeated the South Siders 10-1 at Fenway Park. The win moves Boston to 47-45, while Chicago falls to 50-41.
The White Sox took an early lead when Paul Konerko hit an RBI single in the top of the first, but Boston would tie the game in the bottom half of the frame and break it open with three runs in the third and four runs in the fourth. Red Sox right fielder Cody Ross finished 3-for-5 with a homer and six RBI, while first baseman Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI.
Felix Doubront went six innings, allowing four hits and one earned run to move to 10-4 on the season.
