White Sox Outright Ozzie Martinez From 40-Man Roster

The Chicago White Sox outrighted Ozzie Martinez from the team's 40-man roster on Wednesday after a horrid start to the season, as Scott Merkin of reports. The infielder was acquired from the Miami Marlins last year as part of the deal that landed Ozzie Guillen in then-Florida's skipper role.

Over 40 games this season with Triple-A Charlotte, Martinez has hit .184/.233/.248 with zero home runs and one steal in 152 plate appearances. He has an extremely low .218 BABIP this year, but even that doesn't come close to making up for how poor his performance has been.

This isn't the first time that Martinez has struggled at the Triple-A level, as he struggled with Miami's Triple-A affiliate last year, albeit not to the same degree. Over 523 career PA's at the level, he's hit .227/.278/.300, showing little ability to compete.
