White Sox's Chris Sale Named AL Pitcher Of The Month For May

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale has been named the AL Pitcher of the Month for May 2012, as ESPN Chicago reports. He's the second consecutive White Sox pitcher to win the award after Jake Peavy snagged it last month.

In May, Sale went 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA, 35 strikeouts and nine walks over 31.2 innings of work. Giving up one or less runs in four of his five starts in the month, he's emerged as one of the best young pitchers in all of the American League.

Sale capped off his exceptional month with a monster performance against the Tampa Bay Rays on May 28. Pitching 7.1 innings, he put up a career-high 15 strikeouts while allowing just one run on three hits, garnering national attention for his big K total.
