The Chicago White Sox turned a one-run game into a blowout with a four-run eighth inning on Tuesday night during a 6-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The Sox improved to 34-27 on the season, while St. Louis falls back down to .500 at 31-31.
After second baseman Gordon Beckham singled to center to drive-in Alejandro De Aza to start the eighth, Adam Dunn and A.J. Pierzynski each went deep. Dunn's solo blast was his 21st of the season, while Pierzynski's two-run shot was his 11th of the campaign.
White Sox starter Jose Quintana allowed 10 hits but just one run over his 5.1 innings to improve to 2-1.
