White Sox Trade Rumors: Chicago Likely To Move Lefty If Out Of Contention

Scott Merkin of MLB.com suggests the Chicago White Sox might look to trade a reliever in his latest piece. According to Merkin, the Sox are unlikely to hang onto the quartet of RP Matt Thornton, RP Chris Sale, RP Will Ohman and RP Hector Santiago if the team falls out of contention in the coming weeks.

Most MLB teams keep only one or two lefty-handed relievers in their bullpen, so the White Sox current abundance in lefties could prove a useful asset as injuries thin the league's supply of LOOGYs. Despite the likelihood that the bullpen may hit the open market soon, lefty Matt Thornton is keeping his cool:

"Right now, we are a couple of games out of first and trying to get on a run here and break our rut we've been in the last 10 days or so. But that's all we are focused on is winning ballgames. That's all I ever do, no matter what goes on."
