White Sox Vs. Tigers Preview: Gavin Floyd Looks To Get Chicago Back On Track

Friday was a bad day for closers in Chicago. While the Chicago Cubs removed Carlos Marmol in favor of Rafael Dolis and James Russell, the White Sox announced they moved Chris Sale out of the starting rotation and into the bullpen due to a "slightly tender elbow area." Later that same day, current closer Matt Thornton erased a great pitching performance by Jake Peavy when he yielded a walkoff home run to Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta in the ninth inning. Again, bad day to be a closer in Chicago.

The White Sox have now lost eight of their last 10 games, so all the goodwill from their early-season surge is fading fast. On Saturday, they get a chance to turn things around against the preseason favorite in the AL Central, but if they lose it will be just another series defeat.

The man carrying the load for the Sox will be Gavin Floyd (2-3, 3.13 ERA), and he will start opposite Tigers hurler Max Scherzer (1-3, 7.77 ERA). Here is the basic information you need to find today's broadcasts:

Game Date & Time: Saturday, May 5, 3:05 p.m. CT

Location: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan

TV Coverage: FOX (regional coverage map)

Radio: AM 670 The Score
