After being hit with a pitch in the opening game of their series against the Chicago Cubs, Paul Konerko will not be in the starting lineup for the White Sox this evening. Konerko started this series with a bang, hitting a two-run homer in the opening inning to help lead the White Sox to a 3-2 win. However, he was hit with a pitch in the third inning, which gave this series an even higher level of intensity.
Ryan Dempster will be on the mound for the Cubs this evening in search of his first win of the season. Dempster has been outstanding this season, with an ERA of 1.74 in six starts. However, he has not received nearly enough run support. John Danks will start for the White Sox and he will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing performance in his last start. Danks allowed five earned runs in just three innings pitched in a no-decision against the Detroit Tigers.
