Paul Konerko Injury: First Baseman Will Be Evaluated For Post-Concussion Symptoms

After Paul Konerko hit a first inning home run for the Chicago White Sox on Friday, he was abruptly hit in the head in his next at-bat by Chicago Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija. The Sox would retaliate on Cubs slugger Bryan LaHair, as the beanball war marred the South Siders' 3-2 win the series opener of the crosstown classic.

Konerko would exit the game after the plunking and his status for Saturday's game remains in jeopardy. Konerko was brought to Rush University Medical Center for a CT scan, which revealed nothing aside from a laceration and swelling under his left eye. Before Saturday's game, Konerko will be examined for post-concussion symptoms to determine if he can play.
