With the Los Angeles Angels (17-21) sending left-handed pitcher SP C.J. Wilson to the mound on Thursday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox (17-21) have flipped C A.J. Pierzynski and RF Alex Rios. The Sox catcher is have a great year with the bat so far, but has historically struggled against left-handers.
Meanwhile, Rios is still looking for a rebound from his rough 2011 season. The 31-year-old outfielder has only one home run on the season, hitting just .267/.322/.370, but he has typically fared a better against left-handers than Pierzynski.
