The Chicago White Sox were down 5-2 headed into the bottom of the fifth inning against the Detroit Tigers on Monday night, but a couple big swings by left fielder Dayan Viciedo and a stellar effort from the bullpen helped Chicago come back to grab a 7-5 victory at U.S. Cellular Field.
Adam Dunn hit his 12th homer of the season in the first inning off Detroit starter Drew Smyly. Dunn hit only 11 homers for Chicago all of last season. Vicidedo would homer in the fifth and finished 2-for-3 with four RBI. Viciedo also drove in Alex Rios and A.J. Pierzynski in the sixth inning.
Starter John Danks allowed five runs and nine hits over three innings for the White Sox. Danks didn't have a strikeout in his 80 pitches while walking three.
