In the first inning of Saturday night's game between the Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals, SP Chris Sale threw 42 pitches in the first inning and allowed 3 runs to the Royals, but has since taken control. Issuing lead-off walks to CF Jarrod Dyson and 2B Johnny Giavotella, Sale then allowed four singles that put the White Sox in an early 3-0 deficit.
Since then, Sale has since avoided additional walks while striking out two batters and keeping his pitch count down to 89 pitches through four innings.
Meanwhile, the White Sox hitters have fared no better as SP Luke Hochevar has limited the Chicago lineup to just 3 singles and 1 walk, while striking out 2. The Sox enter the top of the 5th losing 3-0.
