The Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox played to a 5-5 tie after nine innings at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday afternoon. It was the final exhibition game for both teams before the regular season kicks off in full gear this week.
The White Sox initially took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning on a pair of RBI doubles by Gordon Beckham and Alejandro De Aza, but Chicago starter Phil Humber gave up three runs in the bottom of the inning to lose the lead. The two teams would trade the lead again in the sixth inning with both teams scoring two runs apiece.
Outfield prospect Jared Mitchell finally tied the game for good in the seventh inning with a solo home run off Houston's Kyle Weiland.
