Orioles Vs. White Sox Preview: Chicago Looks Avoid Losing Record

If the Chicago White Sox want to avoid having a losing record for the first time in well over a week, they'll have to beat the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. After winning five of its first seven games, Chicago has lost three straight to drop to 5-5 overall on the season.

Now, the White Sox wil need a win against Baltimore to avoid dropping below .500 for the first time since being 1-2 on April 8. After that loss, Chicago reeled off four straight victories to build up some early-season optimism. With the team struggling against an Orioles squad that didn't have much hype coming into the season, some of that excitement has been tempered.

Another strong outing from White Sox starter Jake Peavy on Wednesday could go a long way towards getting that win, though. The oft-injured pitcher looked good in his first two appearances for Chicago this season, both White Sox victories. He'll be going against Orioles starter Tommy Hunter, who is also 1-0 this season.
