The Chicago White Sox sent out starter Jake Peavy for his Spring Training debut today against the Milwaukee Brewers with mixed results. Peavy gave up three runs and four hits over two innings or work, striking out two and walking no one as the Brewers defeated Chicago 10-6. The win moves Milwaukee's Spring Training record to 2-1, while the White Sox remain winless under new manager Robin Ventura, falling to 0-3.
Milwaukee shortstop Alex Gonzalez was the cause of many of the White Sox's woes today. Gonzalez smashed a two out double off Peavy in the first inning to score two. He would later triple and drive in two more runs off reliever Dylan Axelrod.
The highlight of the day for Chicago -- most likely the highlight of Spring Training thus far -- came when former first round draft pick Jared Mitchell smashed a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Third baseman Brent Morel also had two hits for Chicago.
