White Sox Vs. Dodgers Preview: Phil Humber Takes The Mound In ST Opener

The Chicago White Sox (0-0) are starting the 2012 Spring Training season with reliever turned surprise workhorse, RHP Phil Humber. The Sox called the 29-year-old Humber into the starting rotation last season after spending five seasons split between the minors and long relief with various MLB teams.

Humber went on to pitch 163 solid innings in 2011, sporting a 3.75 ERA and 3.58 FIP. He enters the season as a favorite for at least the No. 5 slot in the rotation.

Here's today's lineup:

CF Alejandro De Aza
C A.J. Pierzynski
RF Alex Rios
1B Paul Konerko
DH Adam Dunn
SS Alexei Ramirez
LF Dayan Viciedo
3B Brent Morel
2B Gordon Beckham

The Sox will also look for a strong outing from DH Adam Dunn, who had an unredeemingly bad 2011 season, hitting only 11 homers for a .159/.292/.277 slash and -2.9 WAR. According to former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, Dunn's problems began as early as the 2011 Spring Training, so success now would go a long way towards relieving worried fans' fears.

Dunn and the other starters will likely get only a few innings today before reserves and prospects get their chances to play.
