White Sox Schedule 2012: Chicago To Miss Yu Darvish In Opening Series

Japanese pitching sensation RHP Yu Darvish will not start against the Chicago White Sox, according to ESPN Dallas.

The 25-year-old right-handed pitcher will reportedly wait until Monday, April 9, to make his regular season MLB debut against Ichiro Suzuki and the Seattle Mariners. Instead, the White Sox will take on RHP Colby Lewis, LHP Derek Holland and LHP Matt Harrison.

Darvish pitched in Japan's NPB league for the last five years, sporting a dominant 1.72 ERA in a league where the average ERA hovers around 4.00 (and 3.00 in 2011 when the league changed its rules concerning their official baseballs). In December, the Texas Rangers won the negotiation rights to Darvish when they placed a reportedly $51.7 million bid, and then shortly after signed him to a six-year, $60 million deal.
