New manager Robin Ventura announced lefty John Danks would be the Opening Day starter for the Chicago White Sox after Danks pitched well in a 4-3 Spring Training loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Danks retired the first 10 LA batters he faced and would allow two earned runs in seven innings while striking out four and walking no one. The Dodgers picked up the win when Jerry Sands hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.
Third baseman Brent Morel, outfielder Dayan Viciedo and second baseman Gordon Beckham each has RBI singles for the White Sox in the loss. Juan Rivera singled in a run for LA. Andre Ethier hit an RBI double in the win for the Dodgers. Matt Treanor also had an RBI single for LA.
