After making appearances in 42 games for the White Sox during the 2012 season, Hector Santiago is playing Winter League games in Puerto Rico and dominating so far. In two starts, he has allowed just one run and 10 hits while striking out 13 through 11 innings.
While Santiago is hopeful that he'll be given the opportunity to represent Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, he's also looking to secure a full-time role as a member of the White Sox starting rotation in 2013 after two seasons with the team. Originally selected by the White Sox in the 30th round of the 2006 amateur draft, Santiago was called up and made his debut with the team in July 2011.
He has since appeared in a total of 44 games, including four starts for the White Sox in 2012, and has a career ERA of 3.09. He has 81 career strikeouts in 75.2 innings.
