The Chicago White Sox grabbed a 3-1 lead over the Cleveland Indians in the top of the ninth inning on Tuesday night, but they gave it right back in the bottom of the inning and eventually lost the game in the bottom of the 13th on a Jason Donald single.
The White Sox homered in the ninth off the bat of Dayan Viciedo, who smashed a ball to center off of Indians closer Chris Perez. Cleveland's Travis Hafner, though, came back and hit a two-run homer to right off Indians starter Jake Peavy, who was going for the complete game. The game-winning run was given up by reliever Nate Jones, though it was charged to Matt Thornton.
Chicago's first run of the game came on a single to center by Orlando Hudson. The White Sox's final game of the season will take place in Cleveland on Wednesday, when the two teams take the field at 6:05 p.m. CT.
