Monday Night’s game between the Sox and Mariners had a little bit of everything. Great Pitching, Great Defense, and Clutch Hitting. Luckily for the Sox (29-33) their pitching and clutch hitting was a little better as they won the opener against Seattle 3-1.
John Danks entered Monday’s game in the middle of the worst season of his career. Danks was winless on the season and had an ERA of 5.25. You sure wouldn’t have guessed that watching Danks on Monday. The lefty went seven and a third allowing only one unearned run on seven hits. Sergio Santos pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 11th save.
Michael Pineda was the tough luck loser for the Mariners (31-29). The rookie phenom lived up to his high expectations. Pineda (6-3) went seven strong innings allowing two runs on five hits.
The Sox will look to win the series on Tuesday night.
