Bats Come Alive as White Sox Win at Fenway

When Jake Peavy went down with a freak shoulder injury last summer, nobody knew when or if Peavy would pitch again. The injury he suffered was rare for a pitcher so it was unclear what to expect. The pitcher the White Sox saw on Monday night showed no effects of any previous shoulder problems.

Peavy quieted the Boston Red Sox and their red hot bats Monday night going seven innings allowing three runs on just six hits. The righty improved to 2-0 on the season and the White Sox have won the game in all four of his starts.

Jon Lester came in to the series opener Monday looking to win his league leading eighth game. The lefty just didn’t have it giving up seven runs on eight hits in his five and two thirds innings of work. Lester fell to 7-2 on the season and his ERA rose to 3.94.

The White Sox also welcomed back Gordon Beckham. Beckham had missed the previous few games after getting hit in the face on a throw from center field. Luckily for Beckham it just turned out to be just a bruise.

The trip to Boston couldn’t have come any quicker for the White Sox. After dropping the last three games in Toronto, Monday’s victory was their fifth in a row at Fenway Park. The White Sox are 11-2 in their last 13 games against the Red Sox.

The White Sox will look to win the series when the two teams play on Tuesday evening.
