If you are a fan of old-fashioned pitching duels then Wednesday night’s game between the White Sox and Indians was your kind of game. Jake Peavy was absolutely dominant in only his second start of the season. A sacrifice fly in the first inning by Adam Dunn was all that Peavy needed to lead the White Sox to a victory over the first-place Tribe 1-0.
Justin Masterson was the tough luck loser for the tribe. Masterson pitched eight very strong innings in which he allowed only one run on five hits. Masterson fell to 5-2 on the season after Wednesday’s loss.
Peavy was the story on Wednesday Night. He pitched a complete game shutout and allowed only three hits. This was the Jake Peavy the White Sox hoped they were getting when they acquired the right hander from San Diego last season.
The Sox are now 3-1 against the Indians this season. They will look to win the series on Thursday evening.
