Konerko Hits Two Home Runs In Victory

Paul Konerko hit his second and third home runs of the 2011 season as Gavin Floyd dominated the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon. The Sox took three out of four of the games and improved to 6-3 overall.

Gordon Beckham also hit a solo home run to help power the White Sox to their 6-1 victory. Gavin Floyd pitched a solid eight innings, holding the Rays to just four hits and a walk while striking out eight. He gave up only a single, unearned run. Tony Pena finished up the game in the ninth with a scoreless inning of his own.

Floyd absolutely dismantled the struggling Rays, who still have just one win on the season and are collectively hitting a terrible .163. Tampa Bay’s lone run came due to a Sox error — a poor pick off throw made by Floyd himself.

The White Sox continue their homestead on Monday, as the Oakland A’s come to town. First pitch for Monday evening’s game is at 7:10 P.M. CDT.
