White Sox Score In 9th Inning To Beat Angels, 2-1

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Alex Rios drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the top of the ninth inning, as the White Sox snuck past the Angels, 2-1, in the opener of a three-game series.

Paul Konerko hit his 38th homer of the year for Chicago, which has won two in a row since an eight-game skid.

Freddy Garcia, pitching for the first time since September 7 because of a bad back, gave up one run on four hits over six innings. Matt Thornton (5-4) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless frames of relief to pick up the win.

Torii Hunter drove in the lone run for Los Angeles, which has lost two straight following a three-game win streak. Joel Pineiro was solid in eight innings, allowing one run on four hits.
