The 2012 MLS regular-season schedule was released Thursday, and the Chicago Fire will begin their 2012 campaign March 17 at the Montreal Impact. The Fire's home-opener will be March 24 against the visiting Philadelphia Union at Toyota Park.
Here's MLSSoccer.com on Chicago's home-opener:
"The Impact open their home slate against rookie coach Jesse Marsch’s old club. Fair enough. More interestingly, the last time the Impact played at Olympic Stadium, they drew more than 50,000 fans to a CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal match against Santos Laguna."
The schedule also features 13 national televised games, including an ESPN Sunday telecast, July 8, vs. the defending champions, LA Galaxy.
"Chicago lucks out," writes the SB Nation Chicago Fire blog Hot Time In Old Town, "with hosting all four of the top 2011 clubs at home: Los Angeles, Seattle, Real Salt Lake and Dallas and not having to do away trips there. The Wednesday, May 23 game at Toyota Park will be the only match-up in the 2012 Brimstone Cup."
