Reliever Alex Hinshaw Dropped By Cubs

Southpaw reliever Alex Hinshaw was designated for assignment by the Chicago Cubs Tuesday evening, clearing space on the North Siders' roster to call up right-hander Blake Parker. Hinshaw was a Cub for nine days, since Chicago claimed him on waivers from the San Diego Padres on Aug. 19.

Hinshaw, 29, made his second appearance as a Cub Monday night. He allowed three Milwaukee home runs without recording even one out. Hinshaw had recorded a 4.50 ERA in 28 innings this season before coming over from San Diego.

Parker, a 27-year-old out of the University of Arkansas, was a 2006 Cubs draftee. He debuted this May and has worked 4.1 major league innings to date, allowing three runs and registering no decisions.
