The latest news on the SP Matt Garza trade rumor front is that there is no news. The Chicago Cubs righty has fluid in his right shoulder that will push his next start back a little bit, but given the fast-approaching trade deadline next Tuesday, it is beginning to seem doubtful Garza will be traded at all:
Trading Garza remote chance now that he won 't start until late next week at earliest.

According to Jim Bowden of ESPN, Garza may still get traded, but not until the winter:
Garza shut down until after trade deadline....might not get traded until off-season

Garza, 28, has a 3.91 ERA and 4.14 FIP in the 2012 season and has shown ace-like stuff over the last fives seasons in the majors. With the Cubs at 40-57 and 17.5 games out of first place, they have indicated they wish to bolster their minor leagues with "a lot of pitching," which means veterans like Garza and SP Ryan Dempster should be major trade targets.
