One trade involving Ryan Dempster has already fallen through, but the Chicago Cubs aren't done trying to deal the veteran starter. The Cubs were set to send Dempster to the Atlanta Braves for a package reportedly headlined by 23-year old pitcher Randall Delgado, but the 35-year old right-hander used his 10-and-5 rights to veto the transaction after it initially leaked through the media.
As the Cubs continue their efforts to make a deal, Chicago will reportedly grant teams interested in Dempster the opportunity to work out a contract extension with the right.
The Cubs have told Dempster suitors they'd grant a window to negotiate extension.

The Dodgers are one team often mentioned as a top suitor for Dempster.
