The Chicago Cubs (39-56) take on the Pittsburgh Pirates (54-41) on Tuesday, hoping to translate their Monday win into another winning streak.
The team has been one of the hottest in the league -- their recent sweep at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals, where they were outscored 23-1, notwithstanding. Chicago has a 15-8 record over their previous 23 games and has put together two of their longest winning streaks of the season in that span.
They will send SP Paul Maholm to the mound in hopes of continuing their success. Maholm has won his last four decisions and lowered his season numbers to a 4.09 ERA and 4.22 FIP with a strong second half of the season.
