In his latest column for FOX Sports, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal suggests that Chicago Cubs SP Ryan Dempster has a distinct preference towards the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to Rosenthal, Dempster -- who has the right to veto any trade offer involving himself -- would like to be on the west coast, which might be a problem for the Cubs, who are getting better offers from the Atlanta Braves.
It had appeared on Monday that the Cubs had completed a trade that would send Dempster to the Braves, but the trade fell through almost as quickly as it had been leaked. According to Jerry Crasnick, Dempster had felt "blindsided" by the trade announcement, which had preceded his official approval.
The 35-year-old pitcher is having a career year with the Cubs, pitching 98 innings of 2.11 ERA and 3.28 FIP ball.
