VIDEO: Chicago Cubs Top Pick Albert Almora Hits Home Run In Pro Debut

Albert Almora's camp did some posturing after the Chicago Cubs selected the Florida-bred high school outfielder with the No. 6 overall selection in the 2012 MLB Draft. If only for a brief moment, the player facetiously maintained his top priority was enrolling at the University of Miami. The Cubs made sure he signed by giving him a contract slightly over slot, and on Monday, Almora made his pro debut in style. In his third at-bat, Almora hit a home run.

Jorge Soler, another top prospect recently acquired by the Cubs, hit a homer in his debut on Sunday. It may not have been an easy year for Cubs fans, but the future shaped by Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer continues to look bright.
