Ryan Dempster Trade Rumors: Braves 'Close' To Acquiring Cubs Pitcher

Jon Heyman of CBS is reporting the Atlanta Braves may be the new leader in the SP Ryan Dempster trade market:

Dempster, who has been a trade target throughout the 2012 MLB season, owns a 2.11 ERA and 3.28 FIP through 98 IP. The 35-year-old righty has already drawn interest from the Los Angeles Dodgers, who appear to no longer be in the market for him.

The Cubs currently stand at 38-56, 13.5 games behind the division-leading Cincinnati Reds. With their playoffs hopes dwindling and their farm system thirsty for talent, the Cubs have become one of the league's biggest sellers this season. They are listening to offers on multiple players and are hoping to "add of lot of pitching" to their organization.
