Marlins Vs. Cubs Final Score: Chicago Wins 4-2

Alfonso Soriano homered, Paul Maholm pitched eight strong innings, and the Chicago Cubs defeated the Miami Marlins 4-2 at Wrigley Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Cubs got all four of their runs in the bottom of the fifth, starting with a solo shot from Soriano. Luis Valbuena brought home a run later with a sacrifice fly, and Reed Johnson capped the scoring with a two-run single.

That was enough support for Maholm, who gave up one run on five hits in his eight innings of work; he struck out four and walked one. Carlos Marmol finished things up and earned the save, though he did give up a run.
