Cubs Trade Rumors: Dodgers Considered Front Runners For Ryan Dempster, Matt Garza

The Chicago Cubs are almost certain to trade either Ryan Dempster or Matt Garza, if not both. According to Jon Heyman of CBS, the Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged as the front runners to acquire one of the two pitchers.

Per Heyman, the Dodgers appear to favor Dempster, but would be open to acquiring either. The Dodgers' once sizable lead in the N.L. West has now been reduced to a mere half-game, as the team has struggled through injuries to stars Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier. Los Angeles is more in need of hitting help than pitching help, but after Carlos Lee was snatched by the Miami Marlins, it's unclear if any marquee bats are going to be available on the trade market.
