The 2012 MLB Draft is over, and the front office team headlined by Theo Epstein, Jason McLeod and Jed Hoyer have landed their first draft class for the Chicago Cubs. For a team looking to build for the future and strengthen their farm system with high upside players and power arms, the Cubs selected 20 college players, seven junior college players and a whopping 15 high school prospects.
In terms of a positional breakdown, the Cubs selected 22 pitchers (18 RHP, 4 LHP), seven infielders, eight outfielders and five catchers, according to the official team press release.
