The Cubs' bats remained cold in San Francisco on Monday afternoon and Chicago lost its fourth straight to the Giants, 3-2. Over the course of the four-game set, Chicago scored a total of six runs. San Francisco wasn't much better (11 runs), but obviously, it was good enough.
Jeff Samardzija went five innings for Chicago, giving up two runs on seven hits; he struck out six and walked five. Ryan Vogelsong went seven innings for the Giants and also gave up a pair of runs.
The Giants broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh when Joaquin Arias grounded into a double play with the bases loaded and nobody out; Buster Posey came home on the groundout.
