It appears the reaping from the CF Marlon Byrd trade has already turned sour, as the Chicago Cubs announced on Friday they would designate RP Michael Bowden for assignment and acquired RP Jairo Asencio from the Cleveland Indians:
#JairoFever is headed to the North Side. Cubs have reportedly claimed RHP Jairo Asencio off waivers from Indians. DFA'd by Tribe on Monday.

Bowden struggled in his short time with the Cubs, pitching only 9.2 innings of 7.45 ERA, 5.62 FIP ball. The Cubs will presumably try to pass Bowden through waivers and assign him to Triple-A Iowa.
Asencio, meanwhile, joins the Cubs from very similar circumstance in Cleveland. The 28-year-old pitcher had a 5.96 ERA and 4.47 FIP with the Indians, but did have strong peripherals -- striking out 19.4% of the batters he faced while walking only 7.4%.
