The Chicago Cubs were able to put a painful 12-game losing streak behind them by sweeping the San Diego Padres in their previous series, and now they're heading to San Francisco to try to keep that recent success going.

Lefty Paul Maholm (4-3, 4.62 ERA) will be on the mound for the Cubs against what has been a modest Giants offense. While the Giants are fifth in the National League in batting average, they're 10th in runs scored, eighth in on-base average and 12th in slugging percentage.
Their pitching, however, has been good. The Cubs will face Madison Bumgarner (5-4, 3.14) on Friday.
