The Chicago Cubs (12-17) take on the Atlanta Braves (18-12) on Tuesday, looking to double up after they dominated the Braves 5-1 on Monday. Taking his spot at second base for the first time in his young MLB career, rookie 2B Adrian Cardenas begins what may likely be the beginning of an in-season competition with 2B Darwin Barney for the second-bagger spot.
The Cubs acquired Cardenas on waivers from the Oakland Athletics last February. The 24-year-old infielder was hitting an impressive .319/.376/.521 slash for the Iowa Cubs Triple-A team and has shown considerable plate discipline throughout the minors.
Here is a full look at the lineups for Tuesday's game:
Cubs: DeJesus RF, Campana CF, Castro SS, LaHair 1B, Soriano LF, Stewart 3B, Soto C, Cardenas 2B, Dempster P
