Cubs Vs. Astros Final Score: Houston Drops North Siders 5-1

That Chicago Cubs ran their losing streak to nine games on Wednesday by losing to the Houston Astros 5-1 at Minute Maid Park. The victory completes the series sweep for Houston. The Cubs fall to 15-29 overall, while Houston moves to 21-23 with the win.

Houston scored three runs off Cubs reliever Rafael Dolis in the eighth inning to break the game open. Left fielder J.D. Martinez hit an RBI single to right field to score Carlos Lee and get the scoring started in the eighth. Martinez also drove in Houston's first two runs of the game with triple in the fourth inning.

Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija went six innings and allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out four on the night. Reed Johnson hit a home run for the Cubs in the first inning.
