Cubs Vs. Astros Final Score: Bats Fail Travis Wood As Chicago Loses 2-1

Travis Wood was brilliant for the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night in Houston, but the 25-year old starter didn't receive any run support as the North Siders fell 2-1 to the Astros in Minute Maid Park. Houston left fielder J.D. Martinez drove-in the decisive run with an RBI single to right field in the sixth inning. The Astros improve to 20-23 with the win, Chicago falls to 15-28 with the loss.

Second baseman Jose Altuve led off the game with a solo homer against Wood, but the Cubs starter would settle down and turn in a great second start of the season for Chicago. Wood exited after 5.2 innings, allowing two hits, two walks and two runs while striking out three.

The Cubs scored their lone run in the fourth inning on a solo homer from Alfonso Soriano, his fourth of the year.
