MLB Mock Draft 2012: Chicago Cubs Projected To Select RHP Kyle Zimmer No. 6 Overall

All eyes are on the new brain trust of the Chicago Cubs, Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer, as the duo prepares for their first draft with the North Siders. The Cubs hold the No. 6 overall selection in the draft, and a new mock at Minor League Ball has the Cubs taking San Francisco right-handed pitcher Kyle Zimmer in the first round.

Zimmer is 6-foot-4, 220 lbs and a native of La Jolla, California. The junior is a classic late bloomer who, unlike most ace pitchers in college, hasn't piled up a ton of innings on his arm. This is just one reason why scouts are projecting Zimmer as a consensus top ten draft pick.

Zimmer is 5-3 this season with a 2.59 ERA to go along with 96 strikeouts and 15 walks in 83 1/3 innings. His fastball is set to sit between 93-97 MPH.
