The Chicago Cubs are hoping to get their second straight victory when they visit the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night. Ryan Dempster will be on the mound for Chicago looking for his first victory of the season despite being one of game's most effective starters so far.
Through five starts this season, Dempster has posted a 1.02 ERA with 36 strikeouts and 10 walks over 35 innings. Even though he hasn't given up more than two runs in any of his given outings so far this season, the Cubs have managed to go 0-5 with the veteran on the mound.
After beating Milwaukee in the series finale on Sunday with an eight-run offensive performance, the Cubs are hoping to give Dempster the necessary run support in the series opener against St. Louis. The Cardinals have one of the league's best offenses thus far this season, though, so Dempster will have his hands full.
Game Date & Time: Monday, May 14, 6:00 p.m. CST
Location: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
TV: ESPN (click here for regional coverage map)
