Cubs Vs. Phillies Preview: Cubs Look To Beat Up On Kendrick

The Chicago Cubs were stymied by Joe Blanton on Saturday in their attempt to mount a winning streak, but they'll be back at it on Sunday vs. the eminently hittable Kyle Kendrick. Kendrick, a perpetual stopgap for the Phillies, was bumped into the rotation following an injury to Cliff Lee and was promptly battered by the San Francisco Giants earlier this week, giving up seven earned runs in three innings. Kendrick last faced the Cubs last June, when he threw three scoreless innings in a start that was cut off prematurely thanks to a rain delay.

On the hill for the Cubs will be ace Matt Garza, who has been dominant this season except for one blip vs. the Miami Marlins. In Garza's last time out, he held the St. Louis Cardinals to two earned runs and four hits over seven innings in a 3-2 Chicago win. Garza made two starts vs. the Phillies last season, giving up only two earned runs in 13 innings while striking out nine. Philadelphia's .180 BAA vs. Garza was the second best number that he posted against a team that he made multiple starts against in 2011.

Game date/time: Sunday, April 29, 12:35 p.m. CT

Location: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pa.

TV: WGN
